| - Firefly, this hurts me more than it hurts you. Trust me on this.
I live in Southern California, so Vegas is like our back yard playground. For the past few years, I have raved about Firefly; this semi, off-the-strip restaurant that didn't have a celebrity chef's named attached to it that still offered innovative and delicious food. I would recommend this place to all of my friends and I initially gave them a 5 star review.
But a lot has happened since the first time I fell in love with Firefly.
(1) The were shut down for Salmonella poisoning
(2) They closed down their first location
(3) Moved to a larger, new location
(4) Food quality went down the toilet
I took my husband to Firefly and all day, I had hyped up this amazing restaurant ... the "best tapas" I told him.
Oh man, the disappointment was equivalent to that of a kid finding coal under the tree on Christmas morning.
The food was salty and mediocre. There were some dishes that we didn't want to finish -- and these are tapas, small plates.
Also, service was sub par. They appeared to be slammed with guests or under-staffed. It was difficult to catch the attention of any server and had different people serving us each time. Who was our waiter again?
Honestly, like I said before, I mean it when I say that it hurts me to write this review. I would love to have Firefly back to the way that it used to be. Somewhere, after the Salmonella poisoning and the move to their new location, they seemed to have lost their good taste and service.
There are so many other places to eat in Vegas-- don't waste your time here.
