| - Now I gave this McDonald's 2 stars... why did I give this McDonald's two stars? Is it because it is a McDonald's? No... as you can see from my other reviews of such places as Walmart, etc., just because a restaurant/business is a certain type of restaurant/business, doesn't mean that I automatically give them a low rating so a fast food, inexpensive restaurant where you can be full for under $15 won't automatically score lower for me than an expensive high end restaurant where you can spend $100. My explanation for my 2 stars rating (actually 1.5 star) is below.
This McDonald's is similar to most McDonald's where there is a self serve soda machine, a touch screen terminal where you can order your food and line up at the counter to pick up your food, cashiers where you can order your food and then wait until your food is ready so you can pick it up, and free wireless.
During the Summer, McDonald's has a $1.00 Summer soft drink special and on one hot Summer day after exiting Cote Vertu metro, I decided to get an ice cold drink at this McDonald's as well as cool off in an air conditioned environment and do some browsing on my tablet.
When I entered this McDonald's even though it was around 3pm (not close to lunch time and not close to the time most people finish work), it was fairly crowded and people were waiting to order as well as waiting to pick up their orders. Since this Mcdonald's has a self serve soda machine, I thought it would be faster to order my drink from the cashier as opposed to the automated touch screen ordering terminal since all I really needed was the cup to fill up my drink and if I ordered anything from the automated touch screen ordering terminal, I would have to wait along with people ordering their trios, burgers, etc. so that I could get my cup. After paying at the cash, I was told to wait for my empty cup so that I could fill my drink myself. I can understand waiting if this McDonald's didn't have a self serve soft drink machine (and someone behind the counter would be filling my drink) or if I ordered more than just a soft drink but all I ordered was a soft drink where I would be filling my own soft drink so I only needed a cup from behind the counter!
I waited for ~4 minutes for my number to appear on the monitor in front of one of the cash registers informing me that I could get my "order". To make matters worse, when I went to get my empty cup (after seeing the number indicated by my receipt on the monitor display above one of the cash registers), there was a lot of flies flying around the area.
I got my empty cup and went to get my Coke Zero at the self serve soda machine. After doing this, I managed to find a seat and sat down to enjoy my drink. I took out my tablet and attempted to connect to the free wireless. Unfortunately, the free wireless was not working. Since I only wanted to do some light browsing (checking Facebook, instant messaging, etc.) as opposed to watching streaming videos, I decided to turn my phone into a hotspot and then connect my tablet to my phone for the time that I was at the McDonald's. Two other people tried to connect to the free wireless and it didn't work for them so they spoke with one of the McDonald's employees. The employee asked me if I was using their free WiFi and I mentioned that I wasn't because it wasn't working. He then explained to the 2 other people that sometimes the WiFi doesn't work. Prior to me leaving, I refilled my soft drink and went to the bus stop to wait for my bus.
I really wanted to give this McDonald's 1.5 stars but like any of my reviews that have a 0.5 star in the value, I rounded it up to 2 stars. They got their 1.5 star rating mainly for their location (less than a 1 minute walk from Cote Vertu metro which is also a bus stop terminus station where many bus stop which is why this McDonad's gets very crowded) and the fact that they allow for refills of your soft drink. This McDonald's also has a private parking lot and a drive-thru.
