  • I could not disagree more with Kelli V.'s review from 2011. I'm not sure who the supervisor was then, but currently, John is the property manager and he has been excellent. Hawks Landing is the first large apartment complex I've lived in. I have lived in a lot of urban apartments that have been mostly old, small 8-unit buildings or duplexes, along extremely busy city streets. I moved to Madison because of a new job and was in a bit of a rush to find a place. Madison's rental situation makes for some high rent prices overall, and I found Hawks to be a good price compared to other complexes in the area, which didn't look as nice. You're still paying a good chunk, but I do find myself saying, 'It's worth it." The fact that it's on a golf course, while at first seemed a bit snobby, makes for very quiet surroundings. It didn't take long to get accustomed! I look out over the 18th green and quite often see hawks circling overhead from my balcony. I'm getting great workouts going for runs around the hilly and scenic neighborhood and enjoy the serene environment. Keep in mind: you are in suburbia, which I'm NOT a fan of, but I have grown to really like it, not only for the quiet but also the conveniences. Ugh, I hate to say it but I guess I'm just getting older!! Kidding aside, there seems to be a good mix of tenants, however most are young professionals. I believe they also have a range of apartment types, from studios to 2BR Loft units. And the neighborhood is quite nice, with the golf course being the focal point of the Hawks Landing association. The amenities alone make it easy to live in Verona vs. downtown Madison: heated parking garage, nice pool, fitness center, party room, Weber grill areas, they sign for your packages (big convenience so you don't have to keep missing the deliveries), monthly electronic rent payments, etc. I believe the buildings were built in the 2000's and are kept up very well, almost looking brand new. (My only knock on Hawks is the aesthetic, which is a little dated now.) I am also within minutes of just about any kind of shopping possibly needed: Two Targets, Two Copps, Hy-Vee, West Towne Mall, Menard's, etc. Lastly, I love my apartment. I have a 1BR, 1.5BA loft unit and it has plenty of perks: modern kitchen, extra bathroom, dishwasher & washer/dryer, large balcony with storage, heated garage space, additional storage space, and all while living in an all-around nice facility. The grounds are always kept up and again, the management team seems to be on top of things. Can't recommend Hawks Landing Apartments enough.
