My first experience at this place was very positive and so I made a second appointment. My experience today was horrific. The front desk staff had changed first visit. I called to let them know that I was stuck behind an accident and was running behind. When I arrived I was told I should pay for their "loyalty program" or otherwise the cleaning was going to be over $400. The last time I came in was for a Groupon, but I didn't realize the price would skyrocket. After a bit of sticker shock, I asked if they could take my insurance to help offset the costs. I didn't realize a good cleaning cost more than $200. Maybe that was my own fault. That part didn't even bother me.
The part that was unprofessional was when Dr. Athari came out to the front of his practice to lecture me like a child. He tried telling me I should have been early because he only sees one patient at a time. If that was such an issue, why didn't the front desk reschedule me when I called from the accident traffic? He made me feel embarrassed that I thought his prices seemed high because my initial visit was from a Groupon. Apparently patients that find him on Groupon are cheap? He went on to brag about his client count and how precious his time was so I had to cut him off to tell him I didn't need a lecture.
I'm sure he's irate reading this and will post some emotional response like he did to his other negative review. The reason I felt compelled to write this review is because part of your job as a health professional should be to make the patients feel comfortable. They are forking out a lot of money (especially at his unreasonable prices) and they don't need to be talked down to. You don't always know where someone is coming from or what they are going through. Kindness and compassion goes a long way. Very disappointing considering my first visit was so great. Yes he is a fabulous dentist, but maybe he should stay away from the front desk.
