  • Flavorless and greasy. Those two words pretty much sum up my dining experience here. I felt the menu was fairly limited, but hey, I usually ding places for having too many menu items as well. So I went with it under the assumption that a limited menu should mean that every item would be perfected. With that being said, I did notice some type of disclaimer at the bottom of the menu. I wish I would have read it more closely. It mentioned something about that they don't use any seasoning on their meat (wth?). I should have taken this to mean that they don't season any of their food. Also another give away to that fact would be the vast array of condiments available on each and every table. If food is prepared correctly, I shouldn't have to smother it in salt, pepper, hot sauce, steak sauce, worchestershire sauce, or any of the other various condiments offered. But anyway, I ordered the Steak Lin Sue which was the special on Saturday night. It's a NY Strip topped with 2 artichoke hearts and 2 jumbo shrimp and covered in bearnaise sauce. It was also served with a salad and mashed potatoes with gravy. The salad consisted of wilted iceberg lettuce, a few chopped tomatoes and olives, all smothered in ranch dressing. (They only have two dressings available: ranch or honey mustard, another wth?). The menu said I had a "choice of potato" but that means either mashed potatoes or french fries (no baked potatoes at a "steak house" - yet another wth?) The bread that was brought was a single bland biscuit and a stale wheat dinner roll. The mashed potatoes and gravy were both very bland and lacking flavor. I had to put hot sauce on them to eat even a few bites. The one positive out of the experience was that they seem to cook their steaks well - meaning that the doneness seems to be consistent with what was ordered. So many places do not do this well, and the steak comes out either over or under cooked. This one was a perfect medium-rare and my date's was a perfect medium-well. Too bad it was un-flavorful (as one would expect when cooked with no seasoning). However, once covered in A1 it was definitely edible and cooked well (just wish they would at least use basic salt/pepper on them). The Bearnaise sauce which my dish was smothered in was way too greasy and sweet (It's not supposed to be sweet. Why was it so sweet?). I scraped it off as much as possible and ate the artichoke hearts (which unfortunately picked up much of the sweet greasy "Bearnaise" flavor) and ate the jumbo shrimp which would have been good if not soaked in the sweet Bearnaise. This dish was $22. I felt it was a bit overpriced compared to the other items on the menu. This should be $20 or under. Oh, we ordered two beers (they only have bottles apparently) and the waitress brought us the two tiniest glasses you have ever seen. This is not really a complaint, just thought it was amusing as it seemed as if we were having shots of beer. I can only imagine that with the food that we received, that the CFS would be equally bland since after all they don't season the meat and the gravy had little flavor. I would not choose to return to this restaurant on my own, but would go as a part of a group who had decided up on it (after I try to talk them into something else, lol).
