I've now eaten at Windsor twice. I love the building and I love what Upward Project is doing with the Central corridor uptown. I love that they use fresh ingredients. I love their concepts and menu.
But the food is okay, not spectacular....it is just "good". What I think bothers me about their food is just a lack of flavor....I think they just need to kick it up a notch.
I've had the Kale Salad and the Mixed Grain Salad. Both are good. The fresh veggies they use are snappy and great. But I think the dressings are a bit bland - if they were just a bit more flavorful, I'd like them a lot more.
Today I had the Porkwich Sandwich - and with the ingredients, I thought it would be spectacular. But it was just good. And I had the Kale salad, which was good...but again, could have been more flavorful...really just a bit more lemon juice or zest would have kicked it up a notch and made it great.
I honestly think the Executive Chef needs to beef up the flavors (herbs, spices, etc.) & he'd have a fabulous menu. For instance, on the Porkwich....it has pork and pork belly with a coleslaw & a sweet sauce on it. If the pork had been grilled with a nice flavorful rub, that would have given it just a bit more kick and flavor and it would have been incredible.
