| - Carowinds has done a really great job of improvements the past few years. With the expansion of the water park, the addition of a hyper and a giga coaster, the addition of Harmony Hall, and a complete overhaul of the front of the park, Carowinds has transformed into an elite theme park.
I've always found the employees at Carowinds to be great. They're always smiling and some of the ride operators have a great time interacting with the riders. A few years ago on Vortex, the ride op would say "Thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart!" or some other silly phrase when you got off the ride which just made the experience that much better.
Ride reviews:
Intimidator--Great hypercoaster with lots of airtime and a fantastic train layout. 5/5
Vortex--Also known as the nut crusher, this one can hurt, especially if you have to wait at the end for the next train to load. 2/5
Carolina Cyclone--Uncomfortable and headache inducing. 2/5
Thunder Road--A racing wooden coaster which has been partially retracted. Some of it is still very rough but not to the point where you'll get hurt. 3.5/5
Hurler--Another wooden coaster, slightly better than Thunder Road. This one has been partially retracted as well but some parts still hurt your outer leg as it hits the side of the lap restraint. 4/5
Carolina Goldrusher--A kids' double chain lift rollercoaster. It's actually pretty fun, even for adults but the line moves unbearably slow. 3.5/5
Fury325--Takes the cake as the best rollercoaster I have ever been on. Lightning fast and extremely intense, just a fantastic ride. 5/5
Carolina Cobra--A boomerang coaster that will give you a headache. 2/5
Nighthawk--One of the few flying coasters left. The line moves slow and it breaks down often, but it's a really cool experience to feel like you're flying. Don't ride it if you're claustrophobic. 3.5/5
