  • The guest service staff deserves a four, first of all. As for the hotel itself, wellll...it is older and could stand updating. After driving to Phoenix from Madison, Wisconsin, I was ready to crash out when we reached the hotel at midnight. When we got to our room, the smell of sewer backup hit me like a ton of bricks! Then I noticed that the comforter on our bed was stained, THEN I noticed an exposed outlet, THENNNN I noticed their was more dust, skin flakes and boogers caked into the remote than I had ever thought possible. So I dragged my tired butt downstairs and politely asked for another room. We were given one next door without hesitation or pushback. The new room looked (and smelled) clean and we settled in for the night. The breakfast was solid and industry standard! There was either bacon or sausage (and eggs) for each morning we were there. The pool deck was small, but the pool itself was large, so my kiddo was pleased, although us sunbathers had to do some moving around of chairs. The location itself was perfect for our needs, as we had plenty to do in the East Valley. And, to our delight, there was an In and Out about five minutes away! The front desk, maintenance and housekeeping staff was friendly and responsive, making up for the...rustic...aspects of the hotel. It was a cheap rate for the time period (spring training in PHX jacked hotel rates sky high,) and the place was packed. Oh, there is no seating area or patio on the front side of the hotel, so in the evening you would notice a few of us standing against the parking lot wall with our beer or reading materials to take in the sunset.
