  • Where do I begin! Let's start off by saying it's like the blind leading the blind. You will get the run around, "many different answers" to the same question, and NO one seems to have a clue, or doesn't seem to care that they do not know what they're doing or that they're even giving you incorrect information. I am even speaking about the counselors too. The financial aide dept is the worse of them all! Back in 2011 when I started college at CSN, it was hell on earth dealing with the FA dept. I had to take my issues all the way up the chain to the higher ups and they were just as unhelpful as everyone else under them. All I kept hearing where excuses, oh...they had just changed the computer system and some guidelines had changed as well, and that was messing some students information up in the system, or the system was down and not notifying students on when things needed to be turned in, or if the FA dept needed more info or documents from you (every other dept was singing this tune except the FA dept. they assumed no responsibility for their mistakes or telling you incorrect information). I was down at that school standing in the FA line more times than I can count, with some very angry students who where also getting screwed. It's no wonder they have a police officer standing there during every enrollment period. I had "TWO" counselors who filled out my paperwork incorrectly which held up my SL's (you know the money YOU have to pay back, not free money). I literally didn't receive any of it until the semester was almost over, meaning I had to pay some money out of my own pocket to hold my classes and to be able to attend, not to mention having to pay for all of my books out of pocket. Thankfully I was able to scrape up the money to do so at the time. When meeting with one of the arrogant, clueless counselors who screwed up my paperwork, they where more concerned about my future game plan of how I was going to pay back my SL's, then giving me advice and guiding me on the steps I needed to take and be doing to start attending college in the first place, as I had no clue what I was doing at the time. I literally got no help from ANYONE there, and had to navigate and figure things out all out on my own, which was very frustrating! Needless to say, (no thanks to anyone there), I became a pro at knowing exactly what I needed to do and when things needed to be turned in before every semester. I am close to graduating and cannot wait to transfer. I just recently had to meet with my declared major counselor (in psychology) and he was an absolute douche bag! I swear he was "Debbie Downers" brother. If there was another community college in Las Vegas I would've ditched CSN a long time ago. I am convinced they do not care about how they treat their students because they know there is no other community college for students to attend (unless you do online college). A complete monopoly if you ask me!
