  • I bought a Amazon Local 2for1 deal getting 2 people a roundtrip scenic ticket for the price of 1 ($18). In addition to the scenic ticket which just allows you roundtrip access and the option to get off and explore at any of the stops, the CVSR also offers special dinners and events and alcohol tasting events. What the trains don't offer in luxury, they offer through their nice staff. There was a lot of staff!! Everyone was very nice and helpful and willing to share their knowledge. In addition to train staff there were park rangers on board sharing information about wildlife in the area. The info is both good for kids and adults. Everything runs on time - the train and in Akron where we got off the Loop Metro free shuttle bus. It was in the Akron station waiting for us to get there to take us to locations like the zoo, spaghetti warehouse and art museum. Check in the windshield of the Loop Bus for a timetable and route map. There is an audio guide available on the train. They give you it for free - headphones as well which are yours to keep. The guide doesn't continuously talk, but is activated by GPS as you ride and tells you about what are you passing as you get to it. The guide offers different information on both the South and North bound journeys. It was a bit static ridden in spots but was audible the entire time. I'd definitely ride the train again - perhaps next in the fall. It takes 3hrs to make the roundtrip from Independence to Akron so if you only get off at one stop the entire journey will take all day - about 9a-4p and that is only if you catch the very next train home.
