This is a great little Vegas Strip hack that many tourists are not aware of: Free transport between the Mirage and Treasure Island!
This tram from the early 90s transports you from the Main Entrance of the Mirage (outdoors) to the Walkway bridge that connects the parking garage to the indoor entrance of Treasure Island.
The complete ride is about 2 minutes. (that's what she said)
4 car tram with 28 seats and lots of poles to hold onto like a subway or Center Stage.
Operating hours is currently: 9 AM to 1 AM Sun to Thur. and 9 AM to 3 AM Friday and Saturday.
Be aware that if it's very windy, rainy or both there's a good chance the Tram will shut down. Unfortunately, that's when it might be the most convenient but it's probably best as the Tram is 24+ years old.
Before Uber, if I was partying at Wynn/Venetian/Palazzo and needed to get to the MGM on the weekends after 1 AM it went something like this.
1) Walk across the pedestrian bridges to get to Treasure Island
2) Take the Tram from TI to Mirage.
3) After you get dropped off at the Mirage valet, walk to Harrah's
4) At Harrah's look for the signs to get to the Las Vegas Monorail system (Yelp review coming)
5) Buy $5 Single Ride Ticket at the Kiosk. (FYI..$1 one way ticket for locals if you show your ID at one of the ticket offices, I usually buy mine at the Harrah's location)
6) Take the next Monorail to MGM (or any of the casinos on the way)
After this little trek, I'd usually end up being pretty sober and I got to one end of the strip to the other safely mainly via through the casinos. =) Be safe everyone!
