  • This is a very pretty hotel in a great location. Took an impromptu trip to PA and picked this hotel w/out much knowledge, we were there 2 nights. We loved the location - so close to all the great restaurants and bars, walking distance to the convention center, the river and parks. Our room was very nice and really clean. Good setup and I liked the shower. Not to be underestimated! Also had a comfy bed. Upon check-in they put us on the 8th floor where the pool is at, I didn't really think it was that big of a deal, but my bf liked it - I guess it does mean you don't have to get on the elevator in your bathing suit. Of course they had the cool vault in the basement, I love how they kept a lot of the elements from the old bank building and incorporated it into the hotel. Everyone was nice & helpful & friendly. We happened to be there the weekend of the Animorph convention, that was a hoot, we loved all the people everywhere, we're thinking of going back next year for the people watching and nightlife. The pool and hot tub were on the 8th floor - where they put us. The hot tub was nice for relaxing, the pool was a bit small, and I'm not crazy about indoor pools. Why not a 5? Valet parking was a bit of a mess, slow & crowded (& expensive). Upon arrival there were no luggage carts to help us haul all of our stuff in and no one offered to help. Our room was pretty dark, the only window faced another building about 10 feet away which blocked any natural light - the room could use some more lamps for sure. The free nightly snacks & drinks. We were looking forward to our free cocktail and a snack - having arrived just about dinner time after driving for 5.5 hours. The drinks were ok, not great on the mixer side, so that kind of ruined it for me, unless you're getting wine or something straight on the rocks - the mixers were kind of gross. The food was equally gross. Not a food snob, but it tasted pretty bad. Tried a little of everything, we didn't like any of it. I did see a ton of people eating, especially families with kids, so obviously a lot of people found it ok & I can see the appeal, it would save you lots of $'s not having to take your kids out to dinner. But no big deal, we were looking forward to going out to a good dinner anyways - which we found in all the great restaurants in the area. The ice machine on our floor was broken, I called the front desk & reported it, it wasn't working by the time we checked out. So I would stay again. It was clean, the building was really cool, everyone was nice and the location was perfect.
