I'm torn on this one. I had heard soo many good things about Firefly, but I have to say I was a little disappointed. However, I'll start with the good: ambience. The setting is dark, intimate, and not so loud that you need to shout at the person sitting across the table from you. I imagine this would be a cool place to go later in the evening. I was there for HH and definitely didn't mind the 1/2 priced beers - I'll take a Stella from the tap for $3 any day!
For tapas I went with the the Manchego Mac 'n' Cheese, which was quite good but very rich. I also ordered the Tierra y Mar skewers that include steak, shrimp, and sausage. This is where things took a bad turn. My first bite of the filet mignon was so tough I had to stop and take a second go at it with a knife and fork. For such little pieces of meat I expected more tenderness. The shrimp was just ok, and I really did not care for the spicy flavor of the chorizo sausage. But perhaps my taste buds are just weird. Overall, Firefly gets an initial 3.5 stars. I'll be back to try other tapas on their extensive menu.
