My friend and I wanted to try 4DX at the only Cineplex theatre in Canada. We watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in the front row with hesitation but the seats were actually fine. I headed early to pick-up tickets since it was Tuesday. To my surprise, there was a longer line for a free preview of an animated film which I was interested on how to get on guest list. However, I overheard that they oversold the guest list so they were scrambling to find seats in a packed theatre.
Back to my experience of the 4DX movie, I walked in the theatre and noticed that there were not as many seats compared to a 3D theatre. Each of the 3 sections had 4 seats in the row with 12 for the entire row. Although there was a handicap section, I do not think anyone would pay for it given that the value is the motion seats similar to DBOX. The added experience included air vents shooting air in the headrest, bubbles from above, occasion massage from the back of the seat, and wind blowing from the front.
The overall experience was good but the air vents by the headrest were annoying when the movie constantly triggered them for several times. It was amazing how they coordinated the 4DX experience with the movie. It is on the pricier side so I likely will choose wisely on which movie to watch with this feature.
