I got dumped by my boyfriend and after a month of non stop crying was ready to treat myself to a makeover.
I last minute called several salons with good reviews and prices on Yelp and every one was full on a Saturday. When W had an appointment available I was a bit concerned!
I explained I needed a cut, full colour and highlights and have really long thick hair. The receptionist on the phone booked me in for 4.5 hours with one of their senior stylists.
When I arrived I was seated in my chair immediately. I removed my horse's length pony tail and gave the poor girl the only instructions, "Make *this* look pretty".
We picked out colours together and definetly had some debates, but she was totally willing to work with what I wanted and really wanted to make sure I was happy. Whenever she saw I was wavering she would check and re-check that I felt the length and bangs and everything was just what I wanted. Usually once my hair has been set to colour and I get dumped under a large dryer the stylist will take a quick male client in between. Not here. I was for sure her client for the entire time, and my hair was properly dried by hand.
I mentioned in passing I was hopeless at curling hair, so she even took the time to curl my hair and work a lesson into the mix.
I tend to leave Salons disappointed and too blonde. Not here, I was thoroughly pleased and inc taxes and tip my well below shoulder lenth full colour, cut & highlights was only $250. I have a friend who goes to a celebrity stylist in the city that by coincidence got hers done the same day...mine came out better by her account!
