| - Went to this place for the first time last night. The food was freaking OUTSTANDING.
Came here to write a review and was completely baffled by some of the other extremely poor reviews...
I will say that I know that this restaurant just recently moved from another location, and I have to wonder if the chaos that that sort of event can create in a business was responsible for some of the other reviewers' poor experiences?
The decor is a bit strange, I will give it that. It's a bit pool hall, a bit dive bar, a bit karaoke bar... Not really a place that, just LOOKING at it, you would think would have great food.
I went in with a friend (fellow foodie) who'd been and was a fan. We grabbed seats at the bar and were immediately served by Victor, the owner.
Victor is funny and personable, and clearly has a quirky personality. After meeting and speaking with him, I think the atmosphere is really just a reflection of who he is. He is quick to laugh, loves karaoke, and is passionate about creating quality food (we had a 5 minute discussion about his selection of high-quality rice, preparation methods for it, etc.).
MY experience was probably the tastiest Vietnamese food I have ever had. I will definitely be a repeat customer and can't wait to try more of the menu.
Last night I had the Spicy Spring Rolls (BBQ pork, rice paper wrapper, Sriracha & Peanut sauce), Tom Chien Gion (Fire-Cracker Shrimp - coconut-crusted, deep fried shrimp with sweet & sour sauce), and Com Bo Luc Lac (Shaken Beef). Everything was perfection. And the beef was juicy, tender and flavorful.
Service was impeccable...
If you love good food, and a venue with a personality, do NOT skip this place due to a few bad reviews. If you're worried, find Victor. He will be sure to take care of you.
