  • I had such a bad experience here and while I hate the idea of writing a bad review about small business, this place has compelled me to do so. A trusted friend referred me to this place as I am not familiar with the area. I bought a beautiful sequin dress that was discounted but still a steep price and when I wore it for all of 30 mins the straps snapped. The dress was made with cheap plastic clasps. I went back to the store to have it fixed since I had paid a lot of money for the dress and they said they would send it in to get metal clasps and fix it. They said it might take a week - I let them know I wasn't in a hurry. Two months passed and I didn't get a call back about the dress. Two months passed because I forgot and if I hadn't remembered, I'm not sure they would have called me. When I went in to finally pick up the dress, the dress was fixed but with the same cheap plastic clasps as it had before. I let them know that the dress would not hold up with these clasps. They questioned the fit of the dress so I tried it on. The dress fit fine. I proceeded to tell them how embarrassing incident it was when the dress snapped. There were two women (obviously long-time employees or possibly even owners) who presumably were very knowledgeable with these types of dresses and they took their time to tell me the dress was designed wrong and they didn't offer any consolation except for solutions on how I could get the dress straps altered so that it was designed right. I couldn't believe they were instructing me on what they had basically called a "defective" dress. When I bought the dress, I was fitted by one of their employees and that employee proceed to sell me the dress. While these ladies pretended to be concerned, they really weren't. They were more concerned with hearing themselves. Lesson learned, don't buy a dress before looking at the quality of the straps - high price tags don't mean good quality...but even more shocking was the way these sales women lacked any empathy or willingness to help. It was tough because I paid a lot of money for the dress and got to wear it for all of 30 mins. And essentially, they agreed the dress was not made properly but didn't offer any solution being the sellers of the dress. I will never go back to Maxi Boutique.
