  • Hi all, this review is to highlight the customer service and Magic the Gathering portion of the store. I'll start by saying if you're in Henderson and looking for an LGS to play at, keep looking. This store has no Magic scene and will lie to you about it. That leads me into the customer service portion of the review. I called this store because it was listed as the closest store to me that provides Magic the Gathering sanctioned drafts. I asked specifically how many players do they get at FNM for draft pods. Instead of telling me a direct answer, he gave me the vague "it depends on the night". That's fine, I get it. Blanket statement is true. However, I asked him again a second time. His answer, once again vague, generalized "well we get more players for draft than standard". Once again, blanket statement is generally true for all LGS I've ever been to. I asked a third time. This time I couldn't pay attention to his rambling and asked him directly "is there enough for at least one pod?" He answers "yes". Great, so now I've found a place to play Magic Friday night. Awesome. I get to the store at 5:47 pm, thirteen minutes before the draft (which would be insane for any other LGS if you wanted to play on time), and it's nearly empty. There seems to be more employees than customers in the store. I ask the clerk if there's Magic events at this store, because I thought I was in the wrong place at first. One of the clerks answers yes and then adds there's no one there currently for Magic. They reassure me by saying "as soon as [regular's name] comes in, they'll be more players". The other clerk adds "[regular's name] brings all the boys." Great, so I wait it out. Five minutes go by, customers walk in to look at comics. I idle and look at board games to pass the time. Ten minutes, the customer buys a comic and her daughter wants to be carried out. She says no and they leave the store. The clerks mock the child. 6 pm hits, the store is still empty. I ask one of the clerks if there's any open board games (more specifically if they have an open copy of "Last Friday") and mention I might just go home since no one has showed up. He takes me to the back of the store to see if they have an open copy. They did not. I decide I've already waited this long, might as well just wait a few more minutes for this regular and take a look at the open board games. This back room has another employee and a couple of people sitting at tables. About ten minutes later, I assume the regular walks in because the clerk immediately approaches him and one of the people that has been sitting idle. He says "you're the only two people who showed up for Magic tonight". This catches my attention because I've been waiting and I spoke to this clerk about Magic. He continues "what I can do is a one on one between you two..." He talks about the details of the one on one which is unimportant to this review now. I'm just sitting there, dumbfounded and annoyed I was completely ignored by this clerk. I grab my things, head to the board game I was interested in, purchase it, and leave the store around 6:14 pm. I made sure to mention to the front clerk that I would not be returning to this location again. If you've read this far, this was my experience at Maximum Comics. Once again, they'll lie to get you in their doors and ignore you once you're there.
