I have been practicing bikram yoga across the city for about 6 years now and Bikram on Bloor is the best of the bunch.
Dana and Damien have a great thing going on here - a well organized studio with great instructors all around (some I prefer over others, like anything in life) but overall this is a well-oiled machine.
NOW - I've noticed many reviews on Yelp that question the integrity/cleanliness/philosophies of the studio and I have to say, Bikram Yoga is not for everyone. For those thinking of trying it out - please do some research before hand. This is not your mother's yoga practice. There will be no sun salutations. There will be limited time to meditate. You will sweat balls. You will be encouraged to NOT leave the hot room (and yo, it's HOT).
It can and will get stinky (there are a lot of sweaty people milling around!) expect this! You will see other people's sweat (do you really think it can be avoided?) I dunno, for me - this is not a big deal, this is part of Bikram, and I challenge anyone to find a Bikram studio where this is not the norm. Overall, I'd say the facility is as clean as can be expected (and I don't particularly find sweat - especially not bikram induced sweat- to be that "dirty").
You don't play by your own rules in Bikram, so if you have penchants for blocks and other apparatus - this is prob not the yoga practice for you. And that's ok - but you need to know this before you come back online to rant and rave about how ludicrous the idea is. Just me $.02
All in all, I find a lot of solace in this place. I've been a student here for a long time, and I thoroughly enjoy each and every class. The way you feel afterwards makes it all so worth it.
