  • Ok, so I realize my group will probably be in the minority here, but I have to be fair and honest. We've done so many escape rooms, and this one was very disappointing. First, let me give a disclaimer. We did the time travelling one, and I think that's fairly new, so perhaps they were just working out the kinks still. One of the people in our group said she had done the Mona Lisa heist and it was much better, so take that into consideration. The problem with ours was that even though you get "two clues" whenever you want them, our game master was literally on the walkie talkie giving us clues every two minutes. "Oh, the first two numbers you have are right. The third one should be a little higher..." Ok, thanks. She may as well have just joined us in the room. It didn't even feel like we were doing it ourselves. Then, there were three parts of the game that were either not reset from the previous group (meaning the piece that was supposed to be there was not) or broken so she had to read us the answer. I know that's vague, but I don't want to ruin anything for those of you who might do the room. She actually had to come in at one point through a side door to try to find the missing piece while we were in the game...it completely broke the feel of an "escape room." Theme was well executed in the first part of the game...the going back in time part felt kind of thrown together. Also, the briefing video they showed at the beginning was extremely confusing. Finally, and this shouldn't spoil anything, but upon solving the last puzzle, there was no big escape or anything. Our game master just came over the speaker and said "you saved history, congratulations" in a very unenthusiastic voice. I think what was most disappointing was that with all of that happening, they didn't even offer a discount or coupon or anything to try one of the other rooms at a reduced rate, given that this one was a debacle for our group. Might consider going back since I've heard the two original rooms are better, but I think for now I'll keep waiting for Escape Room Pittsburgh to get their new room open.
