| - I've bought a couple vehicles at Avondale Toyota and even had the salesman (Edwin) each time. In fact, my wife and I bought two vehicles from them because of our experience in the past. I don't know that I'd ever do that again though, because this last time they really dropped the ball in the car-buying and after-purchase care processes. One of the vehicles had rock chips on the hood which they agreed before purchase to fix. The "repair" looks like a blind kid with a black Sharpie tried to fix it. I complained and complained and they said it'd be fixed, but it never has and my calls and texts go unanswered. Additionally, Edwin claimed several times I was getting a "steal of a deal" on my car and was getting it for 2k-3k less than I'd be able to get it elsewhere. Well, my bad in not doing the due diligence because that sure wasn't the case -- not to say it was a BAD deal, it wasn't, but it wasn't the gem they tried to convince me of. I guess the lesson to learn is there's no such thing as a good relationship with a car salesman.
On my wife's car, Edwin promised to have several issues addressed and he did come through on some of them. He said they had maintenance records for the vehicle and he'd be able to let us know if the timing belt had been replaced. Apparently that's not true. Also, he said the dealership would fix the shaking in the outer mirrors because you can't see what's around you on the road. The vibration is really insane on the highway! Edwin said it's a safety item and they'd be certain to get that fixed. Well, the car DID go in for after-purchase service (not handled by the regular service department (of which I've always been a fan!), but by one rude guy -- think his name is Matthew) and he said there's nothing that can be done about the shaking. Really?! So maybe you can't tighten them, but realize this is a SAFETY issue and go ahead and replace the next higher assembly. It may not be as inexpensive as tightening a screw, but it's still pretty damn cheap to replace the mirror and housing.
Bottom line -- the after-purchase customer and vehicle service was bad.
