  • When one of our a.c. units started blowing warm air (with 100+ degree temperatures outside) I contacted our home warranty company, American Home Shield. After the first company they set us up with wasn't able to come out for 5 days, they put in a service call to Consolidated Mechanical. I looked up reviews on the company and about 90% of them were extremely poor, but I was desperate and decided to give them a chance. The lady who called me to set up the appointment was very nice, and they were able to come out the next day. The next day, the repairman, Rik, called about 30 minutes ahead to let me know he was on his way. When he was headed out to the backyard to look at the unit, he stopped to pet all 3 of my dogs as well as my cats who were lounging in the kitchen (for some reason, I thought that was pretty cool as most people choose to ignore those members of my family). As it turns out, the a.c. fan had stopped working and the compressor overheated. He asked to use our hose and cooled the compressor down. Once it cooled, he hooked up the fan and tested all of the levels; we were up and running! He replaced a capacitor cap and told us that everything looked good, but if we had any issues, we could contact him directly. Unfortunately, the fan was on its last legs and completely went out that night. I called Rik and he said he would be out the next day to replace the fan. I appreciated being able to contact him directly instead of calling the company and having them send someone out who was not familiar with the issue...it saved a lot of time. Rick called about 20 minutes before he arrived the next day and replaced the fan. It was quick and easy. Our unit has been blowing out freezing cold air since! I wanted to post my review because I find that more often than not, people only post reviews when something goes wrong, which is unfortunate. My experience with Consolidated Mechanical was great. Rick was prompt, pleasant (even working in the Arizona heat), and extremely knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company.
