| - We just came for a beer and to try the pretzels and beer cheese, always a must for a German spot. The cheese tastes less like a german beer cheese and more like nacho cheese sauce, and I also wish it had mustard. All that said, it's still very tasty and hit the spot. They only have a hand-full of beers available, too bad, but there were some good ones in the mix. The best part is that they have a monthly rotating selection. I had to give it a try, and for August they offered the sommerweizer. It had that german beer flavor, just what I was looking for.
The real reason to visit this place is the huuuge outdoor terrace, with an upper section with waiter service and a lower picnic table area with drinking along the river. Really nice vibe and great views. Inside is also huge, totally different vibe with loud, live German music. The only real downside is that it is located a bit off from the main Carson Street stretch, about a ten-twelve minute walk from the rest of the Southside bars. Still, a cool spot worth a visit.
