| - I didn't know it was possible for a hotel to both try way too hard and simultaneously not try at all until I came here.
My fiance and I stayed at the Found:re for a work function in Phoenix. The artwork in the hotel begged us to explore, but since our work function was within the food and beverage industry, our spare time was predominantly spent eating and drinking around the city. If I weren't so frustrated the morning we were checking out, I would have scoped the place out more. Perhaps the artwork would have redeemed some of our experience.
We stayed in a very nice suite - the decor is industrial (makes sense, given the name) with a touch of modern art. The look is well-intentioned but the horse art in our room was a little much for me. Not knock-you-down-a-star-in-your-yelp-review worthy, but horses give me the creeps. I don't think all of the rooms have horse art so... may the odds be in your favor.
Because of the look they were going for, the pipes in the room are exposed. Not knowing they would leak, I placed my suitcase on a bench in the room and woke up to find that all of my clothes and everything in my suitcase was soaked in grey water - from the smell, it was most likely dirty shower water. That is the best case scenario. I had a leather belt that looked like a prune. I didn't know how it would fare at the time but it still looks weathered and damaged now, a few months later.
Laundry obviously isn't fast or free and we had a limited time line to get on the road... but there was, thankfully, a small iron and ironing board in the room, so I ironed the clothes I needed to wear to dry them out (then, of course, they smelled like burnt dirty shower water), and most of the water really didn't come out anyway. I ended up getting breakfast and driving two hours home in wet, dirty shower water clothes.
What really ruined our experience wasn't that this happened, but how the hotel handled it. We went downstairs and my fiance explained to the clerk at the front desk what happened, to which she said "well, we can comp your parking?" We explained that wasn't going to alleviate the next few hours that I had to drive home in wet clothes in, nor would it replace anything that had been damaged. They were unapologetic, and didn't offer any help. Everything was already paid for, so the least they could have done was offer to get my clothes dry cleaned.
Tl;dr - customer service is awful. Stay elsewhere.
