| - We went to the 2013 Christmas Market on a weekend in the afternoon. Parking was absolutely terrible. The place was so crowded and we waited in line for almost an hour to buy just an apple cider.
My boyfriend suggested we should go this year at night time on a weekday. We arrived at around 7pm on Friday. The parking lot was certainly busy, but we were lucky we spent only a few minutes and got a spot at the underground parking attached to the Distillery District. We paid $2 per half an hour. We stayed there for only an hour something, so the parking was not too expensive.
Without planning ahead, we, of course, were not able to get a table at any of the restaurants inside Distillery District (too bad I did not read Kris U's review ahead of time!). Besides, the place was busy but not as crazily crowded as during the afternoon on weekends. We decided to relax and wandering around to enjoy the romantic Christmas atmosphere than lining up for a restaurant table. There were lots of booths selling food like the very popular $12 each huge turkey leg, $6 poutine, pull pork sandwiches, pretzels, etc. We had poutine but you'd better not to expect too much lol. There were different types of alcohol selling at $8 each. It's holiday and so we went for mulled wine.
It was a wonderful feeling holding a cup of warm mulled wine, enjoying the beautiful Christmas lightings and the big Xmas tree, listening to those beautiful voices singing Xmas songs, and maybe doing some Xmas shopping at some of the booths or stores. It is a must-go yearly Xmas festival!
