  • Considering the size, importance to a tourist city's function and integral nature of this facility in terms of the entire West Coast region's economy, this convention center is a complete letdown, perhaps the most boring facility of this sort I have ever seen. Further, at every step, I felt that the Convention Center operators were attempting to extract even more cash from me (or my employer if they paid for my trip) with fees on the ATM machine, with fee-based internet provided by Cox (rather than supplied for free to those that already paid hundreds, if not thousands, to get there), and with horrible food for ridiculously high prices. For vegetarians, this perhaps the most difficult facility I have been to in years, with only a naked salad and french fries as my options for eating. In most functional aspects, this place is a complete travesty. It is bland beyond comparison, it is isolated from the functions of the city, and it feels as though when on site, you are simply simply a cog in this machine's system of extorting money from travelers. Even if this is the truth of most conventions, it should not be as overt to be offensive to those participating in the charade. The most redeeming part of this Convention Center are its employees. They are above and beyond friendly, helpful, and were the silver lining of the entire trip. they are the one star of this rating. I will never return to the Las Vegas Convention Center unless it is redesigned/redeveloped to the appropriate standard of aesthetic, service, and urban functionality you can find in many of the other great convention cities like San Diego, Portland, Austin, or Montreal. I felt punished for attending the conference in that facility.
