| - Always crowded, but always good.
If you're up for wading through a drove of Southend 20-somethings and dogs (lots of dogs), you'll get to experience some of the best beer in Charlotte. Crowds aside, this is a fun, upbeat spot.
They don't stray too far from safety in terms of weird combinations of flavors, but every beer I've had from Sycamore has always been highly drinkable. I am by no means a beer snob and could really care less if something has been "dry hopped 30 times and then aged in an oak barrel". Sycamore's stuff is just downright good.
The brewery itself offers a basic rustic-industrial style, with the inside being far too small for the typical headcount. Luckily, their outdoor area offers more than enough space for you and your friends, so if it's nice outside there is nothing to worry about.
As an added bonus, you can usually find a pretty noteworthy food truck posted up outside, so if you get hungry you at least have an onsite option.
The service is usually pretty good. They do an excellent job of getting people beers and sending them on their way. The trouble usually comes when some patrons think it's okay to stand at the bar, gazing at the only televisions in the place after they have been served.
A solid 4/5 for the great beer and popping atmosphere.
