  • I live in Calgary but one of my wedding receptions are being held in Montreal. I have been shopping for a dress in Calgary and have a few narrowed down that I love. Friends in Montreal told me to go visit Ami Fer too. I once called them during one of my Montreal visits and spoke to a gentleman who seemed nice enough. I gave him the make and model of one of my chosen dresses over the phone. He said he had it in the store and it was priced at $1800. This made me happy because it was over $500 cheaper than Calgary. He also told me that I can rent the dress out for $700. Fast forward this past weekend, I decide to go visit the store. I told them I was looking for a specific dress, but they are welcome to show me other dresses also. The saleslady was utterly lost and pointed at this other random dress. I didnt want to waste anyone's time, so I declined trying it on. I asked for the specific dress again. She seemed to just hang around, smiling, but looking very lost. After telling her AGAIN to bring me that specific dress as well as any other dresses she recommends, I stood there and waited. She vaguely waved her hands around and told me to look around the store myself and pick. For anyone who has ever been in bridal stores, it is nearly impossible to understand what anything will look like when it is on a hanger inside a transparent plastic bag. I just shook my head and said its okay, I will just try on the specific dress I came to see. Finally she brings out this dress and another dress also. Tried them on, liked them both, despite the fact that she didnt know how to pin the dress to save her life. By this time, my fiance's mom joined me in the store and saw the dresses and admired them. She then asked the price (for the dress I initially came here for). She said "$2000". Immediately, I told her that a gentleman who works at Ami Fer quoted me $1800. She then quickly said, "yes, you know with taxes its like $2000". My fiance's mom then asked how much it is to rent, and she says "$1000". Again, I told her that I was quoted $700 before. She then said "yes, okay, we can do it for $700 for you." Yeah.. Sorry, but I dont do well with salespeople lying to me about prices. Don't lie to me about prices and then try and make it sound like you're giving me a deal by "doing it for $700 for me". No thanks. I just changed into my clothes and decided to leave the store. On the way down the stairs, my fiance's mom pointed to a poster and admired a dress. That same saleslady then abruptly cut her off saying "No we dont have that one. Also its expensive. Like 5000 or 6000." I didnt say anything, but brand name was on the poster and by now I am familiar with several popular bridal dress makes, and I know for a fact that none of the dresses of that specific brand ran over $3000. Shitty customer service and then lying to customers? No thank you, Ami Fer! You're lucky you got two stars!
