  • Arrived at the Bill Johnson's W. Indian School Road location on a recent Sunday morning. It was recommended by some friends who live in the area. They didn't exactly rave about it, but they said it was good so we gave it a shot. Ample parking available in the lot...wasn't sure if this was a good or bad sign, but we proceeded inside to find a restaurant that was devoid of customers. There were a few people inside, but we had the place all to ourselves for the most part. I really liked the "western" decor of this place, even though it is all inauthentic. The wood chips scattered throughout the floor, the horsehoe door handles...all very nice touches that add to the good vibe of this place. Our waitress was extremely friendly and did a terrific job, making sure we had plenty of coffee refills. I wish I could remember her name because it is worth mentioning. Great service. Unfortunately, the food here is not up to par with the quality of the service we experienced. I ordered a Wrangler's Special and although it was edible, I could have went to McDonald's and got the same quality. The french toast was fine, average at best, with some powdered sugar on top. But the eggs and sausage were far below average. We are talking McDonald's quality here. Again, it was edible, but it tasted like pre-packaged frozen eggs and sausage that was thrown in a microwave. Ever watch the people at Dunkin Donuts make their breakfast sandwiches? All the ingredients come pre-made and frozen; simply throw it in the microwave or oven and serve. I hate to think that Bill Johnson's does the same thing. Even though the food was lacking, you do get pretty decent sized portions for a relatively cheap price. You're not going to go home hungry here, but who wants a large quantity of food if it really isn't that good to begin with? With such wonderful service and good sized meal portions, it's a shame that the food lags behind a bit.
