I am a fan of Calgary Transit , especially when I lived at a residence downtown. I could freely take the transit up and down 7th avenue without paying and as frequently as I needed. But then I had to actually expand the areas of my travelling, while looking for employment and I was a little hesitant with the oncoming minus 10 to 30 winter weather and having to try our bus lines.
But I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was extremely easy, passbooks of 10 were a little more than 20 dollars and I could get a transfer which would let me travel in any direction for another 90 minutes. The bus stops are well marked and if you need to know the time of the next bus that was arriving you could simply call a phone line clearly marked on each bus marker and search the number allocated to your bus stop.
The other advantage was how easy it was to find a certain address on Calgary Transit online, simply type in to and from directions and your travel plans were easily explained for you there; what number of bus to take, the times and the locations of the bus stops.
My biggest problem in the wintertime was the terminal changes downtown, I could not remember which terminal was closed and which terminal was going through renovations. The maps inside the trains did never specified any of these changes, so often times I would forget and have to walk back more than a couple of blocks to get to where I needed to go downtown.
I also had to wait several times for more than 45 minutes for buses in the winter, but city transit can't really do much if there are accidents on the highway, nor change weather conditions.
I did however find that the drivers were pleasant and the rides were always warm and comfortable.
