  • Shaved ice or snow cones? There is still a debate but this stuff cannot beat the real deal SHAVE ICE from back home. Yes, remove the "D". Matsumoto Shave Ice, North Shore of Oahu. Google it. So we go here for dessert cause the kids like it and it was hot. Plus they deserved a little treat for a good week. They offer a bunch of flavors, so much so, you do head spins. I am a tropical flavor guy so I always look for guava, passion fruit, lychee, stuff like that...Surprisingly, they offer passion fruit and lychee no guava though. They even have Li Hing Mui. Maybe next time. They can additional items for extra charge but I decide to get a baby with ice cream. I have them put passion fruit, lychee, and lemon. The texture of the ice is not of those lame snow cones where it gives you mini ice cubes and falls apart when the syrup is poured on it. This stuff is the real deal. The machines are the same as the shave ice places from back home. With that being said, my cup was lacking flavor. I really couldn't taste anything. Maybe some of the passion fruit and lemon. Nothing from the lychee. Maybe they forgot? Reason I say that is because my friend also ordered hers with lychee and they totally forgot. Cool thing is they gave her a free baby with only lychee so that was a plus. I guess if you need something to beat the heat, check this place out. The kids like it cause of the treat and they have games. I think this stuff is pretty pricey but this is the best place that comes close to the real deal.
