| - I'm sad to report that this is my second one-star review of VetMed. My cat had a history of eating paper products; he enjoyed it so much that he would develop severe blockages from it. This habit has cost thousands of dollars in medical and surgery bills to date. After vomiting, not eating, drinking or using the litter box for almost a week, I took him to VetMed to have him euthanized last Sunday. It was a hard, painful decision. I knew from past experience that if he wasn't able to pass the paper in a week, it wasn't going to pass naturally.
The vet on duty examined my sweet, sick little cat and informed me that they would not euthanize him as he wasn't "sick" enough. They suggested hydration, an anti-nausea medication and a laxative instead. After $200, we were on our way. I was angry, frustrated and still worried. Fast forward to today, Thursday. My cat still hadn't eaten, drank any water or used the litter box. AND, was still vomiting every day. And, yes, he even vomited up every bit of laxative he was given. I just got home from my regular vet where I had him finally euthanized. The vet there said his temperature and blood pressure were low and that what we were doing was a gift given the shape he was in.
So essentially, my cat was sent home to suffer for another 4 days because I wasn't given the courtesy or respect to have my sick cat put down because THEY thought he wasn't sick enough. Even though I KNEW he was. And, I had to spend another $200 I didn't have.
I continue to be disappointed with the quality of care that I have received at VetMed.
