| - It is about time I write a review for Polka Dot Bake Shop. I absolutely love this place and I think it is my favorite place to get cupcakes.
Every time I have gone in, they have not been busy, but I usually call ahead to make sure I get the flavors I want since I go towards the close of business. Their staff has always been pleasant and have answered any questions I have about the cupcakes.
Onto the cupcakes:
Tuxedo - hands down my favorite! Chocolate cake with a chocolate chip cheesecake center and cream cheese icing. They give you a nice good bite of cheesecake in the center with the best cream cheese icing! The chocolate cupcake is divine too! Yum!
Apple Cinnamon or something of the like?? - I can't remember the name of this one, but it was I think a cinnamon vanilla cupcake with apples baked in and a cinnamon cream cheese icing. Fabulous fall cupcake!!
Red Velvet - Classic red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing - great!
Inside Out Tuxedo - This one was good, but not as good as the Tuxedo, just preferred the chocolate base. Based on the description on the website, I was expecting a chocolate cheesecake center of a vanilla cupcake, not a chocolate chip cheesecake center, maybe mine was a mistake, but I would have liked to try it with the chocolate cheesecake - considering it is an inside out tuxedo! Should have just been called a vanilla tuxedo.
Mint Chocolate - Classic chocolate cake and mint icing with an andes mint on top. I love most anything mint chocolate, so I do like this one, I just wish the mint icing was a little more minty than sugary tasting. I would still get again.
Oreo Cheesecake - Same as the Tuxedo, except has an oreo cheesecake center and extremely crumbled oreos sprinkled ontop. I would like to see crumbled chunks of oreo on top instead of the flakey crumbs. Good, but still like the Tuxedo better.
Crème Caramel - Vanilla cupcake with caramel center, cream cheese icing and more caramel on top. This one was really good!
Butterfinger - This is probably my least favorite. Chocolate cupcake with a chocolate center and butterfinger icing. Loved the cupcake part, but the icing was not my favorite.
Obviously I love cupcakes with cream cheese icing! I have not tried anything with a vanilla, buttercream, peanut butter, chocolate, etc., but I am definitely interested in trying!
My only complaints:
-They have descriptions of the cupcake flavor that they change out each day on their website, but it would be nice if they had a description of each cupcake they have daily as sometimes I have no idea what it is or it was not what I expected it to be.
-I wish they would have more flavors each day, most cupcake places have around 10 daily, while Polka Dot only has around 6. Granted they do more than just cupcakes, I still think they need to give us more options as you have the standard chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet with only 3-4 other fun flavors.
