  • I went to Buff last year with a friend for manicures, as a treat after several long weeks at work. I expected it to be way too girly and pamper me more than my usual nail place. Here is what happened: We each got a hand massage with hand scrub. Then we had to get up out of the chairs and WASH OUR OWN HANDS in the sink in the other room. Clearly I am more of a princess than I thought because I am not paying that kind of money so I can stand up and wash my own hands. Then we came back and were told to get out our tips BEFORE THE POLISH because the polish would be wet when we were done. We thought that was a bit odd, but complied because nobody wants a smudged mani. So we sat at the tables WITH OUR TIP IN PLAIN SIGHT as the girls did our nails. How awkward is that? And then when our nails were finished, the girls said, "Thanks, you're done!" which would have been fine except THERE WERE NO DRYERS. So we had to sit there for another 30 minutes until we were sure our paint job was dry. To top it all off, it was a cold night and we both smudged our polish putting our gloves on because it actually wasn't dry. It would have been great if the staff took a moment's break from talking about Kim Kardashian to check on us in the entire 30 minutes we were sitting there (30 minutes = full episode of Entertainment Tonight. At least I caught up on my gossip tv). It isn't as though they were busy with other clients, we were the only people there. Not pampering, not relaxing, and actually a bit baffling. Maybe I miss the point, but I'm going to stick with Cozy Nails or Urban Nails.
