| - Ascended the main trail at 5:00pm (weekday), it was cloudy and a bit cooler then days past. The trail itself begins by winding through a botanical desert, already you will see signs of life ( jackrabbits, insects, desert plants ). I made the trip alone, and expected there to be more people. It took about 1/4 mile before I realized I would have preferred to have brought a friend, but it was fine. The visitors booth had warnings for rattlesnakes, bobcats, coyotes and such, but the views are great the whole time. The trail becomes somewhat isolated, a city slicker or somebody unfamiliar with the Southwest may become intimidated at first. There is an incline and decline on the 1.75 trek to the trial's end. A fairly moderate hike accompanied by massive boulders, panoramic 360 views of lush desert, and bright green fairways. The elevation changes made it tough for me to keep a steady run, but the trail is well marked and defined. As everyone says bring water, and keep your eyes alert for critters that sting. It was a great scenic experience tied in with a nice workout. I will be returning soon, and highly recommend Pinnacle Peak.
