| - The best part of Perle is not Perle. I really like the bar in the back of Perle, called Speakeasy (you walk all the way through Perle to access Speakeasy). Chill vibe, fun old-fashioned drinks, and great service. Overall, the drinks at Speakeasy and Perle are tasty and reasonably priced. They also both carry a good selection of craft beers.
Perle itself, though - eh. It's the only champagne bar in Pittsburgh, so gotta give them that. And the price point is great. But the clientele is mostly cougar-central, and not being quite of cougar age yet, not sure if this is really my scene.
There is an older white-haired gentleman that patrols both bars, introducing himself as your host for the evening. I don't know if this guy actually works there, but he is super-cool and I aim to be just like him when I hit my 80s. He's got some killer dance moves, too! He alone is worth a star.
And the DJ? Awful. I felt like he was actively trying to get people to leave. That seriously can be the only explanation for his terrible music choices.
