The service was S-L-O-W...and the restaurant was only half occupied at the time of our visit. I don't believe that the problem lay with the wait staff...there were at least four on duty at the time, and many of them were idle to the point that they were (unprofessionally) hanging out and chatting with each other at the entrance of the restaurant. My best guess is that this restaurant does not have adequate and/or trained staff in the kitchen. Why else would it take 50 minutes to produce a garden salad and a bowl of (canned) soup? The other orders at our table were equally uncomplicated...a vegetarian sandwich with fries, and a pancake with eggs. With the local restaurant industry struggling due to the economy, now is not the time for a new restaurant to leave customers disappointed...especially a "brunch" type of concept so close to a retirement area and several large nearby corporations. The owners of this place had better wake up to the fact that his/her restaurant has VERY poor service before The Egg and I Cafe lands on the trash heap of many other Phoenix area restaurants that are no longer in business.
