| - When I rented a car for four days last Thanksgiving, the clerk added a $96 charge for a collision damage waiver that I had declined! Thrifty at this location isn't using paper contracts anymore; they have an incomprehensible supermarket-style touchpad, and the clerk coached me as to which buttons to press. Arriving after midnight and three hours delayed, I told him I didn't want any additional insurance. He agreed, and stated that the charge would be $46 per day. When I checked the receipt later, I found he'd added a $96 CD charge, changing my total from ~$200 to ~$300. I phoned their Customer Service number immediately to complain, but they refused to remove the charge, and said I'd have to find that clerk and speak to him in person. When I returned the car at 5am, of course nobody was at the counter. I marked the receipt with my complaint, which they ignored. They've never sent me any type of paperwork for this rental, just a charge on the credit card. This is the last time I'll use Thrifty anywhere.
