We could never get reservations whenever we were in New York so we decided to jump at the chance to go to the Nobu at the Hard Rock Casino (There's also one at Caesar's). And the food lived up to all the hype as every dish was an orchestra of flavors and perfectly cooked/sliced proteins.
For instance when biting into the barracuda sashimi you first taste the tartness of the yuzu which is then overcome by the fattiness of the fish and the bread crumbs and finally you are hit by the small crunchy garlic chips.
The wait staff is very attentive and they ask that you simply answer a couple of questions about preferences and price points and they then come up with a tasting menu. We gave them no restrictions and what came out of the kitchen for about $120 per person was amazing.
Our impromptu tasting menu included two of Nobu's iconic dishes -- miso-glazed black cod and the jalapeno yellowtail. Like the barracuda, both of these dishes also had several flavor profiles developing on the taste buds. There were also several other dishes and a full plate of sushi, each of which would be the best in almost any city.
Our server, I believe she said her name was Ti, was also a highlight as she showed an honest exuberance and pride in the food that she was serving, which made us even more excited to try it.
For drinks, my wife had a respectable cucumber martini and I had an interesting version of the Sidecar -- an Old School drink but with yuzu being used to create the tartness.
One warning: The dining room is not the quiet, reverential temple that many high-end restaurants foster. There is an energy to the place which befits the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel.
