  • We tried The Gilbert House today for the first time and will be back again. It's a cute little place with lots of patio seating. It's a beautiful spring day, so I was glad we had a patio seat. We were seated after a little bit of a wait and we received our drinks and our orders were taken right away; then we waited and waited and waited. An update from the waitress would be appreciated so you don't feel as though your order has been misplaced. The table of six behind us kept receiving what seemed like endless amounts of food from a couple of waitresses and the bus boy. I told my mom they were eating everybody else's food in the restaurant. Lol! Once we were served our food, everything was very delicious. My parents both had their glasses of water refilled, but I never received a refill of iced tea, nor was I asked if I would like some more. That is a pet peeve of mine with servers. With that, and the long wait for our food, those are the reasons for a four-star rating instead of five stars. I really wanted to try one of the highly recommended sweet rolls, but we were too full. Next time for sure.
