Great 1st impression! Arcade games while you wait, beautiful fish aquarium, and waiting room.
Not until your child is there to get cleaning and dental work done is that all a facade.
We've been going here since our son was 2.5 yrs old. They should've tried local anesthesia at 1st but instead they did oral sedation which he had a reverse reaction to all along putting him on a papoose board and inhaling nitrous oxide (a.k.a laughing gas) He screamed and screamed. For a parent to watch their 2.5 yr old to 5 yr old go through this experience is almost unbearable. During an extraction they left a root tip in and now would not do any more work until we okayed IV sedation. As parents we couldn't okay it. Our son would hear he was going to Smile Reef and would throw a complete fit. He was obviously traumatized. We had to find another dentist.
Island Smiles has been our hero. Whether our child is more matured now 6 months later or the staff and dentist know how to deal with him better. Our experience has been an almost 360 turn. Island Smiles doesn't have nitrous oxide in their office nor do they have a papoose board. My son went under local anesthesia to clean up the work from Smile Reef (root tip left in), sealants on his 6 yr old molar (which Smile Reef never recommended), and fillings. Our son actually enjoys going to the dentist now believe it or not.
