  • So, I had a recent interview here, and it was the most odd, unprofessional, and uncomfortable interview I ever had. Today, I am able to laugh about it, because it was such a JOKE, but at the time, I was bothered because it was actually unfair. So here I am, all suited up nicely, I brought in a resume (which is very impressive for Party USA, maybe too impressive?) and I begin walking into the store... I have to stop at the desk and fill out an application (which I didn't understand because I applied online and received a very aggressive email back inviting me to come in for an interview) I fill it out while standing next to some lady with a bald head with a pink dookie braid coming out the top, and another young lady that looked pretty normal, but not dressed to impress. So, from the start, I thought I had a very good chance. I asked a worker there for some advice, if it is necessary to fill out the employment history, if my resume is perfectly capable of providing that information, I then got a worrisome response from the girl saying "Star wouldn't like that" So right of the bat, I'm kinda concerned of this "Star" lady, So I carry on with filling out the employment section, no problem though, I did not mind, I still kept a positive outlook. After completing it, and awkwardly standing there with no clear direction of where to wait for the hiring managers, eventually, one of the workers from behind the counter says "Go stand over there", So I walk like 10 feet away and stand behind a woman that seemed on my level of business attire. I stand there for maybe 5 minutes, and then ...... Here comes some 40 something year old woman with pink streaks in her hair. It's Star, the Almighty Administrative Assistant Star, Oooohhh. Immediately when she walks up, she greets me, and I made the first move to shake her hand, took her awhile to get that I was trying to professionally meet her. So we start walking back to what looks like a stock room with 3 ghetto lawn chairs, and I proceed to take a seat. This whole interview consist of only a few basic questions, so I begin answering my first question, just to get cut off halfway through my answer by some guy standing over my shoulder speaking in some weird language I didn't understand (Sounded like deep awkward and painful slurs that aren't even words of any language) I couldn't believe it! I looked over at Star and the other hiring person for a bit of guidance on what he was saying, and why he was interrupting my answers, and Star kinda glared at me as if it were my fault he was standing over me and cutting me off. I thought this was some weird test! They begin to ask me my second question that I begin to answer, ONCE AGAIN, he interrupts me AGAIN! Like..... WHAT? I wanted to tell this guy straight up that it's not professional to cut off my answers, and ... Who the heck is this guy anyways?! I thought he was the janitor or something. No idea, they never even told me. Down to my last question, I'm ready to take off because these people never told their janitor or replenishment man or whoever the heck this guy is that he needs to go away so they can host interviews. By the end of it, Star seemed completely uninterested in me, and even sorta rudely gave me this tone saying "if we like you, we'll give you a call" and the look on her face was as if I insulted all her great ancestors or somethin. I just don't understand how your gonna interview people, with this oddball hoovering over people asking his own questions in his horrible speech impediment. I mean, I'm not a mean nor rude person and I never think badly about people, but these people conducting interviews are BRAIN DEAD if you allow someone that isn't allowed to be asking questions (or even speak) to be interrupting someones interview. This story is beyond belief but it's all too real, and I wish it wasn't. I hope not everyone's interview went like that, cause that was the most weird and unsettling interview I have ever had. So today, me and my boyfriend crack up about it, cause, it's better to work in a place that's business professional, instead of this crap. I like Party USA, but I will never go to this specific location again. Wow, what an experience. (x And as my closing statement, Star needs to get replaced, cause her professionalism, isn't there, not one bit, and it makes me sad for the nice workers up front that seem to fear her. Very nice people up front though! And cool products throughout the store. Horrible hiring team...
