| - Had lunch here today with the family. I ordered the melted mess grilled cheese with added bacon. One of my kids ordered the same thing without bacon. Another ordered the café croissant and my wife had a salad.
My sandwich was Panini grilled, usually a good choice, but here, perhaps the irons were too heavy. The sandwich ended up a quarter of an inch thick and the bread was either dried out by the toasting or started stale. I'm quite certain that there was no butter on either side of the bread as is more traditional. The bacon was less slices then slivers. And the cheese, well there really wasn't much there so no "mess". As a whole, pretty unimpressive especially when the sandwich cost $10.50. I understand that the restaurant uses only healthy, non-GMO etc. ingredients and that necessarily adds to their cost; however, I would be shocked if the ingredients in my sandwich cost more than 60 cents. I find that kind of markup at a self-serve more than a bit annoying. More so when the food is mediocre at best.
Making matters worse, my wife's salad came to the table after the kids and I basically finished our meals. We couldn't understand that because the taco topping on the salad was served cold so there was no additional cooking required. They just needed to put the ingredients in a bowl.
So, why two stars instead of one? My sons croissant sandwich, which I tasted, was fine. The turkey was clearly good quality and the honey mustard sauce that we used for dipping was flavorful.
