My experience with Moon Valley Nursery ended on a good note. My wife originally contacted them about trimming a very tall/large Eucalyptus tree. The people at MV asked her to take some pictures and email them so they could give her a quote for the job. I thought that was a little weird and wondered why they would not come out in person to do it. Nevertheless, she sent them some very detailed pictures noting exactly what she was expecting to have them trim. They emailed back a quote and we accepted. They asked that we pay them all of the money up front (another thing that I thought was kind of odd), but we did. We were then told that we were on the schedule. About 2 weeks later they showed up to trim the tree and one of the first things out of the mouths of the trimming staff is that there is no way the quote should have been so low! They even mentioned it a couple of times to my wife while they were doing the work.... enough to make my wife a little uneasy. The crew worked their butts off and did a great job trimming the tree but failed to get 2 branches that really needed to come down (and was included in the pictures that were originally sent to them for the quote). The crew left without cutting down those 2 branches.
My wife called and talked to Sheldon and told him of the 2 branches that still needed to be cut. He told her that he would get back to her. A couple of days later, and no word from Sheldon, I decide to get involved. I called him and he told me that he thought he had called me but maybe he forgot? During the conversation with him, he also eluded to the fact that the job was bid WAY low..... it did make me feel a little uncomfortable.
Bottom line is Moon Valley did come back out and finish the job correctly. I wish they would have done it without bringing up several times that the job was bid way too low and they should not be doing it for what they quoted. I think that maybe if they would send out a person to quote the job in person, they might not find themselves in this position. I am the customer.... I show them and tell them what I want...... and they tell me how much they will charge. If I accept their estimate, then that is what I expect to pay.
Moon Valley ended up doing the right thing and I really appreciate that and have respect for them for being a stand up company. I just wish they would have kept the fact that they underbid the job to themselves instead of trying to make me feel guilty or bad for their mistake.
