As a somewhat avid homechef, I love coming to St Lawrence for inspiration. I get inspired to cook something through seeing the large selection of produce and seeing what is seasonal. I love that several butcher shops have unusual meats such as Emu and Ostrich and Buffalo, because I certainly get tired of cooking chicken, pork or beef as my main meats over time.
The overall quality of the produce by most vendors are very good. The prices at certain vendors such as the seafood and meat vendors are usually higher than supermarket prices, but I find the grocer's prices to be comparable or some times even slightly cheaper than grocery prices.
There are also several good food vendors around such as Buster's Sea Cove, my husband and I like their halibut fish and chips. The coffee place downstairs has a nice variety of whole beans and the house special is usually pretty good and affordable.
Overall, I love this place, I come here if I am looking for a special ingredient whether it is cheese, spice, or meat that I can not find in a regular grocery, and of course I come when I am in a cooking rut in need of inspiration.
