  • This business wasted my time. In my case, I was looking for the best rate on a HELOC for home improvement. The Lending Tree people took my info, said there would be no problem considering the data I gave them, then the first company they referred me to said none of the companies referred by Lending Tree give HELOCs to people whose houses are paid off! My bank of 30 years told me just the opposite, that the HELOC lender naturally prefers being first in line to be paid.
