| - I made a Yelp account just to express how disappointed I am by this company. Horrible service, incompentent people.
My friends and I were in need of a rental car to make it home from Vegas. We talked to a service rep who was trying to convince us we needed an SUV, when I CLEARLY explained a sedan would suffice since there was only four of us with not a lot of baggage. It really gave me the impression these people work off commission, and look to dupe people they think will take the bait.
We drove home starting in the late afternoon while it was still light outside and approached LA at about 8 when it started getting dark. That's when I realized that the headlights were EXTREMELY dim. I obviously couldn't drive with highbeams on, but the headlights were so dim that it made for a very uncomfortable drive. I was constantly worried that other drivers couldn't see our car, or that I would get pulled over - the people in the car with me also couldn't tell at times that the headlights were on. Maybe it was my fault for not checking the intensity of the lights before we left, but really, this should be Alamo's responsibility to ensure vehicles are completely safe to drive BEFORE letting the customer get in them.
We returned the car to Alamo at LAX that night. When I pulled in to return the car, the attendant immediately started trying to talk to me in Japanese (I am asian) and ask what nationality I am. I found this inappropriate and annoying especially after being irritated with the drive.
I explained to the manager in the office that the headlights were dim, and I felt that the driving conditions were unsafe. He said to call the Las Vegas office and that they would provide compensation.
I called the office the next morning and dealt with a VERY rude customer service rep. I explained to her that the lights were DIM and in all honesty, she didn't understand what the word "dim" meant. I had to tell her "the lights were low". She was rude to me throughout the conversation, asking me what she wanted her to do about the situation. In the end, I just said, "make sure your vehicles are safe for people to drive in them."
First and last time I will EVER use this company. You'd think with so many people looking for jobs they could hire some people with the slightest bit of competence and tact???
