| - Today we are giving the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Chandler, AZ three stars.
I stayed here for three days during a work related trip. This hotel is a meat combination of a Fairfield Inn and a Courtyard Inn all in one building. I stayed on the Fairfield side. Since I used both sides my revue encompasses everything.
First, the front desk person, Joshua, on the Fairfield side is great. He's friendly, welcoming, knows his talking points but doesn't sound scripted, and just genuinely seems like a nice guy. He showed that he has a handle on everything going on at the front desk and since he was working alone that is a very important skill.
Second, the shuttle drivers for their shared courtesy shuttle are fantastic. They open doors for you, are very friendly, know the area, and get you where you need to go without a fuss. They never act like they are inconvenienced which is nice.
Third, the Fairfield side has a free breakfast. It's pretty basic with some eggs, toast/bagels, oatmeal, DIY waffle (super fun), and a variety of fruit and yogurt. It's not foo-foo but it works and it's free. You can walk to the Courtyard side and pay for breakfast if you want. They serve Starbucks coffee over there just in case you need it.
Fourth, the room was in great shape, very clean, and suitable for my needs. The hallways had a very off putting, sulphuric like smell. I thought it was just my floor but I visited other floors and smelled it there too. The smell is pretty bad. Maybe that is what Arizona smells like? I dunno.
Fifth, there's a small gym, a pool, and a hot tub which were all good. There is also a laundry room if you need it.
Sixth, my only gripe was when I ordered dinner on the Courtyard side. I ordered a bistro burger at the waitresses recommendation. It took over twenty minutes to get the burger after I paid for it and that was after the waitress came to my table to ask what I had ordered (she forgot) AND after she served two burgers to other people who ordered well after I did. Once I finally received the burger of course I ate it. It was alright. Nothing super fancy but adequate to satisfy my hunger. The fries that were served with it were really tasty. This waitress helped me on another night and overall she is nice but maybe she got overwhelmed by having seven guests to serve.
Anyway, bottom line is this hotel is a fine choice. Temper your expectations and you will be just fine.
