| - The Check Engine light on my 2003 Acura CL illuminated, and I called Wally's in the morning, advising that I had another appointment, but could be at the shop in an hour. Daniel said they could identify the problem, but was unsure if they had the manpower to fix it immediately, depending on the severity.
An hour later, I drove into the shop. The facility is definitely no frills old school with good single serve fresh brewed coffee. The customer pays for a dealer's glitzy metal and leather mood lit lounge style waiting room, and my ego doesn't need that much massaging if the technicians know their stuff.
They took the car in, and in about 20 minutes found a cracked and split gas cap gasket. They had sold their last one, and Daniel advised that a replacement would be available in the afternoon, or I could stop at any Honda or Acura dealership and pick one up.
When I asked what the bill was, fully expecting the obligatory $50 "minimum service fee", Daniel said "no charge". Having run a service shop "back in the day", I was impressed with their old fashioned shop ethics, plan to use them for future maintenance work.
So far, I am impressed with Wally's, and believe I have found a good home for my Acura's care. Time and a couple of more visits will tell.
