| - So many bad reviews about Cox. Is mine really necessary?
I have been a Cox customer for 12 years! I am giving them 2 stars: the first because yelp won't allow less than one and another star for their very good internet.
Now, Pay Attention! There are only two things you need to know about Cox Cable.
1. Their so-called internet technical assistance is pretty useless. If you have internet troubles, fix it yourself or get the twelve year old geek next door.
2. Their billing practices are so obtuse and confusing that even they can hardly figure it out. I just cancelled my hardline phone - the nice young lady said it would take a total of $18 off my bill. Wrong! It took nine dollars off my bill because they dropped my $25.00 a month loyalty discount and played around with the rest of the bill. So I guess I am less loyal now then for the past 12 years! (It should be noted that I have no contract with Cox.)
BTW, in reference to the 'loyalty discount' if you have been a Cox customer for a couple years, ask for it! Most likely they will give it to you. It expires every 6 months, so you have to ask again when it does!
And while I'm here, many companies want you to do "automatic pay" so they can take your payments right out of your bank account. Personally, my opinion is that this is a bad idea. If you let Cox (or any Cable Company) do this you are in need of a psychiatrist! Do you really trust a cable company, or any other for that matter, to grab money out of your bank account? FYI, Cox's only competition in Vegas, Direct TV and Prism, will only sign you up if you allow direct-pay!
I hope Cox and the others are enjoying themselves because with the revolution happening now in the way we get our TV, they will probably all be out of business in 5 or 6 years.
